A Whole Person Approach To Chronic Pain

Curious if this approach is right for you?

“…The pain just won’t go away!”

Living with chronic pain can be exhausting in ways that most people don’t fully understand. It’s not just the physical discomfort — it’s the frustration of not being able to do the things you love, the stress of constantly thinking about your symptoms, and the feeling that your body is broken. When pain sticks around for months or years, it can affect every part of your life — your energy, your mood, your sleep, your relationships, and even your sense of hope.

I know first hand how discouraging it can feel when you’ve tried countless treatments and nothing has worked. The good news is that chronic pain is often far more treatable than people realize. I offer a whole-person approach to chronic pain care — we'll map out the factors that could be driving your pain — injuries, inflammation, sleep, stress, and past traumas — and work towards your recovery together.

Why Are You Still In Pain?

Pain is a danger signal — a protective response triggered when your brain perceives a threat to your safety. Acute pain from an injury is there to keep you safe while your body heals. It's not a flaw in the system. In fact, it's the system working exactly as designed. The challenge with chronic pain is that this danger signal can persist long after an injury has healed, driven by learned neural pathways that keep firing even when there's no ongoing tissue damage. Because your brain's sense of threat is influenced by so much more than physical injuries — your stress levels, sleep quality, past experiences, emotions, and even your beliefs about pain — the signal can stay switched on without an obvious cause. Understanding this changes everything. It means chronic pain is not just a body problem, it's a whole-person problem. And that's exactly how I approach it.

I understand that this view of chronic pain can feel counterintuitive. Most of us have been taught that pain means something in the body is damaged (it's certainly what I was taught in chiropractic school). Tissue damage is often the driver of acute pain but the science around chronic pain tells a different story. Chronic pain is less about ongoing damage and more about a danger alarm that has become overactive — continuing to fire long after the original threat has passed.

I’m Here To Help

My approach to chronic pain care is centered around understanding the unique combination of factors driving your symptoms. Rather than chasing a single cause, we'll take the time to look at the full picture of your health and your life — then build a plan that is specific to you.

My background in chiropractic, functional medicine, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) gives us a diverse set of tools to address the various factors that could be driving your pain. Sometimes we may focus on releasing tension and helping your body move better. Sometimes we'll look more closely at your diet, sleep and lifestyle. And sometimes the most important work is reducing fear and helping your brain remember that movement and sensations are safe. Through my own journey with chronic pain I understand how difficult it can be to find a real solution. Chronic pain is a whole person problem —I’m here to take this journey with you as we discover what you need to resolve your pain.

What Patients Are Saying

“Dr. Jesse has been an incredible help with unraveling some of my more challenging health mysteries. He came highly recommended from a personal referral for chiropractic care but my challenges with gut health, fatigue, brain fog, and a variety of other symptoms led me utilize his functional medicine expertise as well. I had been working with another functional medicine practitioner for a few years with some successes and a large amount of supplements in my regime. Within two appointments Dr. Jesse got me down to a very reasonable and minimal pill count and completely cleared up my issues. I’m not kidding, it was like a light switch. Within a week my energy was better, I was sleeping at night without waking and my brain feels clear. I’m pretty surprised by the results and can’t recommend his functional medicine treatment strongly enough! I’ll definitely continue to work with him in this regard and recommend him to all of my family and friends!”

“Dr. Jesse is the best! I initially went to see him for an injury to my neck. After working through that, he’s helped me with so many random aches and pains over the years, including a frozen shoulder that hurt so badly I couldn’t even lift my arm. It is totally pain free now. In addition to his chiropractic work, as a functional medicine practitioner he has helped me eliminate a number of symptoms that I previously thought were completely unrelated to one another including skin rashes, nerve pain, congestion, a racing heart, inability to sleep past 4am, etc. I love how Dr. Jesse treats you as a whole person and looks for the root cause of the symptoms. After literally decades of doctors’ visits and being prescribed various drugs and creams for each symptom, I finally found someone who took a different approach, listened to me, ordered lab work, analyzed it, and suggested a metabolic care plan that actually works. I have since brought my children and my husband to see Dr. Jesse. We highly recommend!”
